(An Open Letter to seekers of Real Estate services in the central VA market; I purchased a home
in May 2010 with the assistance of Maureen Hegarty.)
Dear All:
It is with deep gratitude that I write this letter of thanks and recommendation for the assistance
rendered by Maureen Hegarty for real estate services in purchasing our Albemarle County home
in Virginia. Without reserve, I found Ms. Hegarty’s performance in these duties to excel above
all other real estate agents I have had the privilege to come in contact with or to have done
business with.
Perhaps among her finest qualities is her skillful handling of resisting the clients urge to over-bid
on property, which, in my case, would have led to a less-desirable outcome. As buyer-agent she
balanced the needs for timeliness, patience and in offering proper valuation on suitable offers.
Her other professional real estate skills are likewise just as astute in contract negotiations, value
awareness, aggressiveness and suitability of a property for a buyers criteria. A notable attribute
for an agent that should not be overlooked is the ability to tell your own client “no.” Maureen
will advise you politely and professionally to keep you from making mistakes during the search
and bid/offering process.
Her business partner, Rob Peery, brings to the process an added valuable voice but with a
different perspective. Words cannot express thanks enough for the huge depth this brings to the
real estate purchasing experience. Working with these two agents helped me in avoiding lifechanging
mistakes because they provided broader perspectives on value and suitability.
The home I purchased is, without reserve, the best possible solution that was available in the real
estate market during a 6-month search. Maureen was consistently and optimistically helpful
throughout the process and carefully prevented me from overbidding on four other homes of
lesser-quality and suitability.
